Maui Grown Therapies executed its first sale of medical marijuana on Tuesday as Oahu-based Aloha Green announced they would begin selling the medicinal herb on Wednesday. The state of Hawaii was among the first to embrace the efficacy of medical marijuana by legalizing the therapeutic plant in 2000. Dispensary Profile: Verde Natural

Walk through the doors of Verde Natural and you’ll realize that this Colorado dispensary takes the “natural” part of its name quite seriously. Once inside, the comforting earth tones of Verde’s wooden interior and displays are only a precursor to the soil-grown cannabis this medical marijuana provider has become known for. “We are hands on with our plants 100 percent of the way, from clone to harvested flower bud,” marketing manager Matthew Mattson said. “We grow all of our plants in raised soil beds using our recycled soil, feed the…

Cannabis Deserts

Many people think of California as a veritable utopia for cannabis aficionados and in many ways they’re right. The Golden State is home to some of the finest cannabis genetics in the world and remains a mecca for the best and brightest minds in the industry. While people in prohibition states are waiting by the phone and hoping their shady dealer brings the same stuff as last time, they imagine Californians are at the candy shop, holding up a line out the door, vacillating between whether to purchase the Mango…

Sonoma Wine Country Scores A New Pot Of Gold

It seems like only yesterday California’s Humboldt County claimed or had been given the mantle cannabis capital of the state. Some have said more cannabis grows in Humboldt County than any other crop in the countyor in any other county; salon.com called it not just California’s but America’s marijuana capital. Was Humboldt County’s crowning premature? Was the Emerald Trianglemantle as the artisanal cannabis capital given to Humboldt, Trinity and Mendocino counties premature as well? Read Peter Fimrite of the San Francisco Chronicle and it’s easy to think Sonoma County situated almost 300 miles south of Humboldt may be…

Inside a Colorado Grow

The pungent smell of cannabis permeates the air in front of the row of industrial buildings on the outskirts of Denver, Colorado. I’ve arrived at Bloom County Growers, a 2,000-square-foot operation that grows cannabis for both medical and recreational sales. Beautiful buds – Durban Poison, Grape Stomper, Bubba OG – grow alongside each other. The only difference that makes one plant medical and another recreational lies in the RFID tracking tag wrapped around the stem – yellow for the medical herb and blue for the recreational. Marijuana dispensaries decrease crime, not increase it, study finds

Conventional wisdom says marijuana dispensaries make neighborhoods less safe, but a new study from UC Irvine suggests the conventional wisdom is wrong and that crime increases after cities move to close pot shops. “Given all the pretty strong rhetoric about dispensaries generating or at least attracting crime, it was not the result we expected,” said Mireille Jacobson, a health economics professor at UCI who studied the data with colleague Tom Chang. “But I feel comfortable saying it’s very unlikely that these places are crime magnets.” Read the full article HERE

In June, 2017, Florida governor Rick Scott signed into law legislation created by state lawmakers to implement the state’s Amendment 2 medical marijuana amendment, passed by voters in November, 2016. The Florida legislature had slow-walked passage of the necessary implementing legislation. The new legislation was written at the last minute during a “special session.” Read the full article HERE
